Mug Shot Muddle Dec 22nd 2007

Who is this one time helper of Santa Claus, News Reader extraordinaire and Champion Race car driver??

The Boss

Hello... Sorry I haven't posted all week, work has been absolutely manic, but we're on the home stretch to some Christmas Holidays... woohoo! I am off for a couple of weeks from my day job of Production but will be in to do the Weekend Rooster plus I will be on the air Christmas Morning from 9am, hopefully catching up with some of the kiddies of Cork to make sure Santa paid them all a visit!

Well finally got to see the legend that is, The Boss, Mr.Bruce Springsteen. Unreal Unreal Unreal. Definitely the best gig I have ever been to and I have seen a lot of gigs but he topped them all. He played for almost 3 hours kicking it off with "Radio Nowhere" and finishing up with "Santa Claus is Coming to Town", in between he played most of his new album "Magic" peppered with quite a few tracks from "The Rising" and of course some of his classics such as "No Surrender", "Dancing in the Dark" and the cherry on top "Born to Run". I was all prepared to run to the front of the crowd for Dancing in the Dark just in case he wanted me on stage a la Courtney Cox circa 1984 but he never brought someone up on stage with him, shame I had practised my shuffle dance all night! Here's a reminder of how Courtney looked in the video when we didn't know she was an actress and thought it was all for real!

Ah..memories... check the video out on YouTube for a real trip down memory lane, won't let me publish it here! Brings me back to driving around with my Mam in her little yellow Fiat while singing along to Born in the USA album. It was a real thrill to see the E Street Band up close too, legends like Clarence Clemons, Nils Lofgren and Steve Van Zandt who you Sopranos fans will know as Silvio Dante, unreal.
So basically it was worth the 17 year wait to get to see them, now it's time to concentrate on getting tickets for the RDS gigs next summer, somehow!

Kc's Man Flu

Unreal- he's got the sniffles and he's on the way out. Ya might of heard KC this morning telling us all about his cold which is about to kill him, he even had us look into the future & hear what his funeral will be like, sooooo dramatic. His chosen song for his funeral was "Going Underground" by the Jam which i liked a lot, I might rob that one! Anyway here is what he was like in studio today, hamming it up!

Have a look at this hilarious clip which says it all! Poor little bunny kc, sooo funny!

Xmas Tree is Up!

Yaaaaayyyyyyy! The Christmas Tree is gone up! Are ya impressed?? It needs more decorations but I love it, just the smell of it when ya come home in the evenings or get up in the mornings, ya can't beat it! I did celebrate it by watching about an hour of Christmas songs on VH1 and just gazing lovingly at it afterwards! Hey- Each to their own! Christmas feels like it came much earlier this year, I think it's because everyone here at work got so into it too and the decorations went up early. It's only in recent years I have started to get back into it and this year I am taking a 2 week break over xmas (except for my on-air shifts incl xmas day-tune in) so I am really looking forward to it, getting up late, watching lots of movies , eating too much chocolate and spending lots of much needed time with my loved ones! God bless us everyone!! Em..sorry got a lil carried away there! xxMurphxx

Santa Claus is coming to town...

Santa visited RedFM on Monday... basically Ruari from sports put on a red costume and copped a feel off everyone. But it has to be said the kid in each one of us came out as there was nearly riots to get the traditional Visit to Santa Photo!! And the fizzy lollies after was a nice touch! We had a comp around here to see who could decorate their offices the best, the theme was Santa's Grotto and it has to be said news won hands down, they went all out. They had xmas tunes playing while you waited to sit on Santa's knee !?!?! and even The Snowman playing on DVD, they even went as far as making the sign in the background to say you had visited Santa at the News Desk. Hilarious... It was clearly a slow day for news! Then again something tells me a nuclear attack could of taken place and it would just of had to wait!! Ever the professionals :D

But who could forget visiting Santa when you were a kid, we used to always go in Wilton Shopping Centre and i swear i used to almost faint in the que, my palms were sweaty I was rehearsing what to say, slight panic over the bust up I had with my brother the week before when I punched him in the face and called him a name I really should not even know at that age, had Santa seen it, was he gonna mention it, had my good deeds all year outweighed the bad ones, was I gonna get away with no bag of coal this year. Then it was time, Santa's helper came out, who knew Margaret Murphy from down the road was a close friend of Santas, she was my new hero, in she led me, I could feel my head spinning around, was i gonna cry, no I couldn't, then the curtain went up and there he was, my old pal Santa, he knew my name and he said it was great to see me again, phew I was off the hook. Running over to him, big hug, he looked slightly panicked but we'll overlook that, studying his face, making sure nobody was pulling the wool over my eyes, happy it's all legit, then up on the lap for a chat and a picture. Listing off what i want, please don;t say you're out of them, chancing my arm and adding a few more things in that I didn;t tell my Mam, what's she gonna do give out to me in front of Santa, Daggers from mam, the "wait till we get out of here" look, Santa giving me the usual speech i'll see what I can do, not good enough big guy, I need the guarantee, kiss on the cheek to seal the deal, some more idle chit chat to try and stall him so no more kids can come in, the more kids the less likely I get all the toys I want, time to go, hey wait where's my present, I'm a girl I don't want a blue parcel (regularly happened I had very short hair), he must of wondered why a little boy wanted a cabbage patch doll?, bye Santa, happy now, open the package, a pink fish that tells your fortune, a colouring book, crayons, a cheap doll who's leg has already fallen off, a look at my Mam, I think we've been had, maybe I'll send a letter too when i get home just in case he forgets, get the photo, tears cause I do look like a boy, meet my brothers, more tears as they laugh hysterically, ha ha "who's the little boy", slaps all round, into the car, home happy!! (I better get a good quality Cabbage Patch, not like this shit shop piece of plastic doll that's falling apart limb from limb) xxMurphxx

Transformers Dance

Here's Optimus Prime shaking her groove thang!! Who is that masked avenger????

Transformers- A pile of poo in disguise!

Got to see Transformers last weekend, what a load of cack!! Now granted I never liked the cartoon i was always more of a He-Man/She-ra kind of girl, by the way since when was She-ra, He-Man's twin sister?? I didn't know that, I thought they were in love but were too busy defending Eternia and the Castle Grayskull... anyway back to my point, so I was never much of a Transformer's fan, there was always a fight on sat morn between me and my brother over who got the power of the remote, because if he did I had to watch Transformers- Robots in disguise... grrr, he did usually win it has to be said! So I managed to escape watching it in cinema, even though my better half did want to go see it and I offered a few times but there was always something else to see instead. So last weekend he bought it and I thought, ok let's give it a chance, it might surprise me! Surprise me it did, I never expected it to be such a load of S**t. The acting was appalling, the script was terrible, the whole thing was like a B-movie. Was it meant to be like this?? And that guy in the lead role Shia LeBouf, holy crap he was so bad, i wanted to just hit him and say "over-acting, look it up"!! I didn't even keep watching the end of the movie. Some things should just stay in the 80's- like slap bracelets, side pony-tails, shell tracksuits and Transformers!! Now if someone wanted to make a Jem and the Holograms movie, i am all up for that!! xxMurphxx

Xmas Tree

Well last weekend was meant to be the weekend I put up my Christmas tree but unfortunately it didn't happen. After Friday night I was no good to anyone. We had a RedFM staff night out, it was like a practice run for the Christmas party. I had intended to be very good and go home after one or two drinks cause I had the show the next morning as usual. But of course famous last words. It was a great night though, I think it was about 5 when i hit the hay... but ever the professional I was up for the show, making sure to get a taxi, there was no way I was getting behind the wheel after that little sleep. So after the show it was straight back to bed and by the time I felt human again it was too late to get a tree. Gutted. But there's always next weekend! Rules for the tree this year...
  • Has to be real
  • not too big but not too small,
  • no tinsel (it's not the 80's),
  • and when it comes to disposing of the tree I don't wanna know about it, that part does my head in :D
Something understated like this one would be perfect!! xxMurphxx
