A lil rant!

I'm not one for coming on here complaining usually but I really have something I gotta get off my chest... and seen as Vic's away for 2 weeks I have to vent here!! I love going to the flicks, I try to go at least once every 2 weeks, like everyone else I buy my ticket, I get in early to get a good seat so I can enjoy the movie to it's fullest capacity... but why is it I always end up sitting in front of some ignorant f****r who thinks its ok to put their goddam feet on the back of my chair and keep kicking it for the entire movie, f*** right off. I don't put my feet on the back of peoples seats why the hell should they??? I pay the exact same money, I'm entitled to the exact same comfort for the entirity of the movie. I have on many occasion turned and asked people to take their feet down and to stop kicking my chair, and the looks I get, as if I'm the person the wrong... what the hell people, were ye dragged up??? Were you never taught it's rude to put your feet on the furniture??? I swear I'm finding it hard to keep the cool and ask people nicely to take their feet down, it's just common courtesy really. So if u are an offender, next time your at the cinema spare a thought for the person in front of you, would u like someone kicking your chair the whole way through a movie??? Thought not! If ya wanna put ur feet up, wait for the DVD and watch it at home, failing that, learn some manners... because this really makes me angry and believe me, you wouldn't like me when I'm angry...grrrrrrrr!!

One of my faults...

...would be time-keeping! I know I'm terrible Muriel, I haven't been keeping up with this blog, but... ya know what, no excuses, and I can't promise it won't happen again, but for now here I am!! Since we spoke last-

I had a birthday

I saw Massive Attack live (great)

I saw Tommy Tiernan live (hilarious)

I saw Paul Weller Live (boring)

I've been to Dublin twice (both occasions work)

I'm leaving my hair curly more

I bought new shoe/boots which I have yet to wear

I have re-discovered Arrested Development (the tv show-too funny)

I have seen my second Casey Affleck movie and love him even more

I have added Casey Affleck to my very short list of celebs I would- 1. Johnny Depp
2. Casey Affleck

I have had six sessions of accupuncture to try and get rid of my Vertigo (so far, so good)

I have tried to get back to the gym

I broke my "no pic n mix" rule at the cinema, once (it was worth it!)

I made rice krispie cakes like when we were kids (and they were just as good)

I had a party where I served the rice krispie cakes, they went down a treat (pun intended)

I also served cocktails at this party where we had an incident with an overpacked blender and margaretas... I am still cleaning tequilla from the surfaces.

I have tried and failed to book a holiday

I have not yet cleaned my car

I have started a new book (wuthering heights)

...and I have learned, to walk away from negativity, it's just boring and destructive!!

So all in all I've been a busy little bee!

...And how was your month??

Charly says...

Ahhhhhhhhhh... It's Charly says. Granted they were made in the 70's but they must of been re-run in the 80's because I remember watching them, although Charly's voice slighlty freaked me out which could explain my disdain for cats throughout my life! I do think Charly was responsible for me getting through my childhood alive though because what he said (squaked) was gospel, I never went to see puppies with the strange man that asked me, I asked before I went to the park with Vera and Dave, even though they left without me anyway... (bastards) and I certainly never chased my cat around the table until the teapot fell on him and scalded him, although how we laughed at charly in his bandages... ah happy days!!

Now I've gotta wonder, wouldn't it be more in RTE's line to play these in between kids programmes, instead of some child attempting to play "Twinkle Twinkle" on the tin whistle while our ears bleed!!
Funny stuff!

Bandarazzi

Check out this hilarious video... the song is a bit crap but the video is very clever. The band is A Cursive Memory and the track is Everything. Basically these kids ran amok in Hollywood with the Paps and tried to get as many stars as they could into their music video. Some were having none of it (Kevin Connolly from Entourage), others played along even though they clearly didn't have a clue what was going on. They didn't even have music playing from the ghettoblaster when they filmed the footage so it must of looked tres strange to the celebs.

Cheap way of making a music video... but is it legal?? well done anyway boys.

Love is...

Well... my world has just about stopped spinning (hopefully it stays that way)... So off I went to see the Sex and The City Movie last night, with a girlfriend of course.
I am a huge Sex and the City fan, I have the Shoe Box set of every single episode. I regularly watch it on Paramount (for the 185th time) I know every episode and most of the outfits Carrie was wearing in those episodes, so I was hella excited about the movie, I checked on updates every day on the web, looked at every piece of bad camera phone footage from the set of the movie and tried every day last week to book tickets, I eventually got a couple for last night, so straight after work, off I trotted to The Gate Cinema. Firstly I was shocked at how many people actually got dressed up for this movie, i had come straight from work so felt very under-dressed, but seen as I'm a girl who doesn't feel there needs to be a special occasion to get dressed up, I say more power to you all! Although I've yet to see a Carrie Wannabe getting it right- she has a stylist girls and most of the clothes are designer, I'm all for individual style, I hate wearing what everyone else is wearing just to be on trend, but individual style is just that- individual- not trying to copy someone else's style. It's usually easy to spot the wannabe's anyway cause they look so uncomfortable that you just know they don't usually dress like that!!
Anyway back to the movie... So I got my popcorn and spicy nuts (behave!) mixed them all together and we took our seats (at the very back so nobody could kick our chairs-grrrrrrr!). Then the moment arrived, on came the plinky plonky music (musician speak) and Carrie, Samantha, Miranda and Charlotte were back... and Mr.Big of course! I had been warned I would cry and I cry at Home and Away for goodness sake, so i was prepared for Niagra Falls, but the tears never came, I had a lump in my throat and my eyes welled up a couple of times but there was no tear flow and certainly no uncontrollable sniffing and sobbing. This was my first disappointment, my second disappointment- The Movie! And I feel like a traitor too all womankind saying this, but I think they should of just left well alone. It all seemed so rushed and being someone who adored the series and how it was written, this just felt all a bit too amateur. I get that there needs to be changes for the big screen but I just didn't think it did such an iconic series any justice. Now don't get me wrong, I will buy the DVD when it comes out and no doubt watch it 547 times but most of that will be for the outfits. Patricia Field- I want to marry you- Carrie's clothes are unreal throughout the whole movie and being a fashion lover, yes I could watch a 2 hr movie just for the clothes- Marie Antoinette wasn't exactly a masterpiece but I've watched it over 7 times now because of the costumes.

Maybe it was my own fault and I had built it up too much in my head, but there was that s'ning s'ning missing for me... but not to worry, I still have my shoe box set of every episode ever made!!
aaaahhhh.... Love Is....!!

One final thought- on the subject of men, where I am all for men supporting their women and being there when they need them, who would drag their boyfriend along to see this movie?? 2 guys at the show last night with their GF's and they just seemed uncomfortable the whole way through... girls unless they are gay and can appreciate Carrie Bradshaw's shoe obsession, leave 'em at home!!

Long time no blog!

It's been forever since I've posted, my very bad!! But I do have an excuse... Vertigo! Yes for the past few weeks I have been suffering from head spinning, stomach turning, falling sideways Vertigo and what a dose. I have never had vertigo in my life I always thought you had to be on a height to actually suffer from it... seemingly not! It is such a horrible feeling, I'm walking along but it feels like I'm not touching the ground, I'm lying down and it feels like I have the spinners from too many glasses of wine, I'm watching tv and I feel like I'm an extra in "The Perfect Storm", (movie-on a boat, big sea storm). So according to my Doc, who's in the know, there's a virus going around and she's after seeing countless people in the last few weeks all suffering from this vertigo. So if you are one of the many clinging on to walls or floating around with your heads in a bucket, I sympathise, here's hoping we all come back down to earth very soon... cause this is no fun!!
BTW: here's a tip if you are suffering... do not watch Gordon Ramseys F Word, the camera moves way too fast on that show, I had to go lie down only 5 mins into it!!
